Stit Logics, Games, Knowledge, and Freedom

چکیده
This paper has two main goals: highlighting the connections between Stit logics and game theory and comparing Stit logics with Matrix Game Logic, a Dynamic Logic introduced by van Benthem order to model some interesting epistemic notions from game theory. Achieving the first goal will prove the flexibility of Stit logics and their applicability in the logical foundations of game theory, and will lay the groundwork for accomplishing the second. A comparison between Stit logics and Matrix Game Logic is already offered in a recent work by van Benthem and Pacuit. Here, we push the comparison further by embedding Matrix Game Logic into a fragment of group Stit logic, and using the embedding to derive some properties of Matrix Game Logic—in particular, undecidability and the lack of finite axiomatizability. In addition, the embedding sheds light on some open issues about the so-called “freedom operator” of Matrix Game Logic.

Ceteris Paribus Structure in Logics of Game Forms
The article introduces a ceteris paribus modal logic interpreted on the equivalence classes induced by sets of propositional atoms. This logic is used to embed two logics of agency and games, namely atemporal STIT and the coalition logic of propositional control (CL−PC). The embeddings highlight a common ceteris paribus structure underpinning the key modal operators of both logics, they clarify...
متن کاملProperties of logics of individual and group agency
We provide proof-theoretic results about deliberative STIT logic. First we present STIT logic for individual agents without time, where the problem of satisfiability has recently been shown to be NEXPTIMEcomplete in the general case. Then we study STIT logic for groups of agents. We prove that satisfiability of STIT formulas involving groups of agents is undecidable by reducing the problem of s...

متن کاملWhat groups do, can do, and know they can do: an analysis in normal modal logics
We investigate a series of logics that allow to reason about agents’ actions, abilities, and their knowledge about actions and abilities. These logics include Pauly’s Coalition Logic CL, Alternating-time Temporal Logic ATL, the logic of ‘seeing-to-it-that’ (STIT), and epistemic extensions thereof. While complete axiomatizations of CL and ATL exist, only the fragment of the STIT language without...
متن کاملCTL.STIT: enhancing ATL to express important multi-agent system verification properties
We present the logic CTL.STIT, which is the join of the logic CTL with a multi-agent strategic stit-logic variant. CTL.STIT subsumes ATL, and adds expressivity to it that we claim is very important for using the formalism for multi-agent system verification. We argue extensively that the extra expressivity is important for extending ATL to a language for reasoning about norms, strategic games, ...
